Justice Bridge and Safe Church Programme Officially Launched in the ACK Diocese of Mombasa

The Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) Diocese of Mombasa has officially launched the Justice Bridge and Safe Church Programme, marking a significant step in strengthening the Church's commitment to promoting justice, safeguarding, and ending gender-based violence within communities.

The launch, held at ACK Mombasa Memorial Cathedral, brought together clergy, parish representatives, and church leaders from across Mombasa, Kwale, and Kilifi counties. The gathering marked the beginning of a coordinated diocesan effort to create churches that are safe, welcoming, and responsive to survivors of gender-based violence.

A key highlight of the day was the official launch of the Justice Bridge and Safe Church curriculum, which will guide churches in prevention, awareness, survivor support, and referral pathways. Parish leaders and trainers were also commissioned to spearhead the programme within their respective parishes, equipping congregations with the knowledge and practical tools needed to foster safe environments.

The event was attended by County Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Officers from Mombasa, Kwale, and Kilifi counties, reflecting the growing collaboration between the Church and county governments in addressing gender-based violence and promoting the dignity and protection of every person.

The programme was officially commissioned and launched by Ven. Rev. Alex Banda, Vicar General of the ACK Diocese of Mombasa, who encouraged the newly commissioned leaders to faithfully embrace their calling as advocates for justice, healing, and hope. He challenged them to become agents of transformation by ensuring that churches become places where every individual feels safe, heard, and valued.

As the programme begins its implementation, the Diocese looks forward to seeing parishes become bridges to safer churches, safer families, and safer communities, bearing witness to Christ's love through justice, compassion, and restoration.
